Press release (17/05/11): Científicos españoles participan en el rediseño de LISA, el primer observatorio espacial de ondas gravitatorias

Alberto Lobo selected as one of the scientists contributing to the redesign of the gravitational wave observatory, LISA. He will represent the Spanish contribution to this team of experts that will work in collaboration with ESA engineers in order to propose a new design for a future European gravitational wave observatory mission.

Carlos F. Sopuerta in the Jornadas de Divulgació de la Relativitat (01/03/11)

The Agrupació Astronòmica de Terrassa and the web Relatividad Espacial organise the Jornadas de Divulgació de la Relativitat to commemorate the visit of Albert Einstein to Barcelona the February 26th, 1923. This year Carlos F. Sopuerta gave a talk on gravitational waves in the Museu de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Terrassa.

Picometre precision demonstrated by LISA Pathfinder tests (21/10/10)

A European team working on the LISA Pathfinder mission has completed an extensive series of ground tests on the spacecraft's optical payload. The tests successfully achieved - for the first time on a spacecraft instrument - the incredible precision that will be required to confirm the existence of gravitational waves. The Spanish contribution is the Data Management Unit, developed at the ICE.

Interview to Alberto Lobo in the technology journal Global Talent (08/04/10)

The DMU is an central element of the LISA Pathfinder mission. It will process some data on board and will control other subsystem in the spacecraft

Press release (20/02/2010): El Instituto de Ciencias del Espacio entrega a la Agencia Espacial Europea su principal contribución al satélite LISA PathFinder

The Instituto de Ciencias del Espacio (CSIC-IEEC) has delivered to the European Space Agency (ESA) the Data Management Unit (DMU), which controls the scientific experiment on board the LISA Pathfinder mission. LISA Pathfinder will test the key technologies to build the first gravitational wave observatory in space, LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna).
